Michael Drob

Michael Drob has a diverse background in data science and engineering. Michael currently serves as the Director of Data Science at HawkEye 360, where they lead a team in identifying emissions from bad actors through sifting through millions of radio emissions. Michael is responsible for setting the technical direction, building core algorithms, and overseeing maintenance.

Before their current role, Drob worked as a Lead Machine Learning and Wireless Scientist at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. In this position, they led a research team and spearheaded initiatives to improve communications for air and missile defense systems. Michael also defined project goals, managed timelines, and provided people management.

Prior to that, Drob held the position of Senior Research Scientist at Perspecta Labs, where they worked from 2018 to 2020. Michael also worked as an SDR/Machine Learning Consultant at Drob Consulting llc. from 2017 to 2020.

Drob's career began at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in 2011, where they held various roles. Michael served as an SDR Lead Developer from 2016 to 2017, managing a waveform design team. Michael also served as an SDR Embedded Software Lead from 2014 to 2016, leading a radio development team. Additionally, they worked as a Lead Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) Verification Engineer from 2011 to 2014, leading a post-tape-out lab verification team and successfully cutting program costs.

Before their time at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Drob worked as an Electrical Engineer at Raytheon from 2008 to 2011. Michael also had a brief role as an FAE Coop at Broadcom Inc. in 2007.

Michael Drob earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Michigan, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in RF and Telecommunications from The Johns Hopkins University, attending from 2011 to 2014. In October 2022, they obtained a Neo4j Graph Data Science Certification from Neo4j.
