Oliver is one of the leading architects working in the UK Education and Research sectors. He is a Senior Partner of Hawkins\Brown and leads the practice’s Education and Research team.

Oliver's experience ranges from local primary schools to state of the art research institutes, and he thrives on the variety and challenge that the sector offers. His buildings have received wide recognition – most notably four national RIBA awards for buildings at Oxford University, Royal Veterinary College , University of East Anglia and Exeter.

Oliver is a sensitive and skilled designer who has steered many high-profile and challenging projects to successful planning outcomes. These include applications in highly sensitive heritage contexts, where his design flare, communication skills and methodical approach have prevailed.

He recognises the importance of generating a robust and coherent brief for education and research buildings. He is a highly experienced leader of focused user group workshops and is developing new digital tools and techniques to make the whole briefing process more effective and enjoyable. His buildings are underpinned by clear simple ideas that deliver desired outcomes with clarity and verve.

His knowledge of how buildings are procured and constructed ensures he is able to direct the team to efficiently produce the relevant information, focused on the areas of most importance to the success of the project.

Alongside his project work, Oliver leads the innovation group within the practice, looking at how architects can use new digital tools to improve processes and design.

He has recently been invited to join ‘Designers for Science’, an elite group of architects, engineers and other professionals debating best practice and emerging trends in the sector.

He is an active member of the Higher Education Design Quality Forum (HEDQF) and contributes widely to the debate on education buildings and has spoken at conferences in the UK Europe and the US.

Oliver is a current member of the Hertfordshire Design Review Panel.

Oliver graduated from the University of Manchester where he was awarded the Manchester Society of Architects Student Award.
