Jeremy Kaplan

Jeremy Kaplan has a diverse range of work experience in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology. Jeremy is currently working as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Haystack Oncology since July 2022.

Prior to this, Jeremy worked at Foundation Medicine as a Computational Biologist from May 2020 to June 2022. During their time there, they gained valuable experience in analyzing genomic data and contributed to the development of computational tools.

Before joining Foundation Medicine, Jeremy worked as an Oncology Bioinformatics Intern at Illumina in 2019. Here, they developed algorithms for filtering somatic variants from circulating tumor DNA and gained exposure to next-generation sequencing processes.

Jeremy's work experience also includes serving as an Undergraduate Bioinformatics Laboratory Assistant at the University of Michigan Medical School from October 2015 to May 2019. In this role, they developed a platform to help visualize genomic alterations in tumor sequencing data and conducted analysis of nucleosome footprinting in urine cell-free DNA.

Additionally, Jeremy has interned at Tempus, Inc. in 2018 and 2017 as a Computational Biology Intern. During these internships, they processed variant datasets, developed metrics to summarize genomic instabilities, and built web applications for data visualization.

Jeremy's early career included an internship at Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2016, where they gained experience in oncology informatics.

Jeremy Kaplan attended the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained their high school diploma. Jeremy then went on to the University of Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from 2015 to 2019. Following that, Jeremy pursued further education at the University of Michigan and completed a Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics from 2018 to 2020.
