Practice Leader: Coastal Resilience // Northern California at HDR

Nate Kauffman, PhD, currently serves as the Practice Leader for Coastal Resilience in Northern California at HDR, focusing on shoreline and coastal adaptation planning while promoting sustainable development and climate resilience through innovative approaches. As a co-founder of the Climate, Infrastructure + Resources Group, Nate Kauffman contributes to reimagining resource reinvestment in environmental adaptation. Additionally, Nate Kauffman established the Live Edge Adaptation Project and directed the Sustainable Environmental Design Program at the University of California, Berkeley. With a strong academic foundation, Nate Kauffman holds a PhD in Environmental Planning & Landscape Architecture and has held various roles, including VP of Climate Solutions at Owlized and Assistant Director at Urban Frame.
