Gaurav Gulati

Scientist II at HDT Bio

Gaurav Gulati is a Scientist II at HDT Bio. Prior to joining HDT Bio, Gaurav was a Research Scientist-3 at the University of Washington, Seattle where they worked on developing a smart polymer-antibody conjugate/nanoparticle-based binary reagent system to capture HIV from infected plasma, to improve detection sensitivity of a point-of-care device.

Gaurav has also developed an inexpensive in-house kit for RNA isolation and purification, comparable to commercial Qiagen RNA extraction kit, that reduced the cost/sample extraction by ~6-folds. Additionally, Gaurav has developed diagnostic assay on PCR, RT- PCR and cDPCR platforms. As a part of team, they were involved in developing a sensitive COVID and HIV co-extraction RT-qPCR assay that was used by Collaborators in Kenya for HIV and Covid co-diagnosis in patients.

In their previous role, Gaurav also developed novel sample preparation approaches for point of care devices to improve detection sensitivity. For instance, they developed a plasma sample prep. involved HIV captured and isolated by binary reagent system. Gaurav also developed HIV-RNA and TB-DNA captured probe labeled microbeads for sensitive detection of HIV and TB.

Gaurav Gulati has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. Their research focuses on the Development, Pharmacokinetic and Toxicology of drug-loaded PLGA nanoparticles. Gaurav also has an MS in Pharmacology from the PostGraduate Institute of Medical Education and research chandigarh, India, where they researched the Effects of drugs on gastrotoxicity and renal toxicity; animal model of ulcer production. Gulati also holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) from Sardar Bhagwan Singh (PG) Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Research; Dehradun, India. In addition, they have certification in Advanced Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad and certification in research methodology and biostatistics from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. Finally, Gulati is a Registered Pharmacist from the Pharmacy Council of India.
