Peter King

Peter King, Ph.D., currently serves as the Executive Director of the Australian DBT Institute since October 2004, providing leadership in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. In addition to this role, Peter has been the Director of Essentia Health Clinics since June 1999, offering comprehensive mental health services. Peter also holds positions as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Southern Cross University and Independent Chairperson for headspace's Meadowbrook & Beaudesert sites, and previously served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Griffith University and Sessional Lecturer at Deakin University and RMIT University. Peter’s clinical experience includes significant roles in various mental health services, notably as a Senior Clinician at Alfred Hospital and through various positions in the Victorian Public Mental Health Service. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Social Work from RMIT University, a Master of Nursing from the University of Melbourne, and a Post Graduate Diploma and Bachelor of Nursing from La Trobe University.
