Founder and Director, Steven W. Sell, has resided in the north Florida area since 1972. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of North Texas. Has done graduate work at the University of North Florida and New York Institute of Finance. After serving in the U.S. Navy for four years, Sell began employment with Dean Witter and Co. as a stockbroker. In 1981 he changed careers and became head of the commercial real estate department of ERA Dan Jones and Assoc. During his tenure, he was recognized in the National Winners Circle of ERA. In October 1984, he founded Health Care Management for the purpose of owning and developing nursing homes.
He negotiated the purchase of Rosewood Nursing Home and Hillard Manor Certificate of Need following a failed attempt by the previous owners to complete the project in Hillard. A similar effort was accomplished in Lake City. Other facilities started from the ground up include Osprey Point in Bushnell, Florida, Amelia Trace Assisted Living in Fernandina Beach, Mission Oaks Assisted Living in Oxford, Florida and a newly organized home health agency in Jacksonville. Steve is still highly involved with HCM.
