Janice Torrez

President, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) at Health Care Service Corporation

Janice Torrez is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the New Mexico Plan to support membership growth and retention and ensure financial stability and long-term success of the state’s largest health insurance company, serving more than 630,000 New Mexicans carrying a Blue Cross and Blue Shield card.

Torrez has over 27 years of experience as a senior executive within health care organizations in New Mexico. She has been with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico for more than 12 years, most recently serving as associate vice president of External Affairs and chief of staff. She was previously the president of The Resultz Group, a health care consulting firm providing business strategy and solutions for regional and national health care clients; president of the St. Joseph Healthcare PSO, the first federally waived provider-sponsored organization in the country; and vice president of business development for the St. Joseph Healthcare System.

Torrez serves on the board of directors of the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange. She also serves on the board of the Albuquerque Economic Development, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, Economic Forum of Albuquerque, and the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation Board of Trustees.

Torrez holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
