Mel Goodwin-Hurley

Mel Goodwin-Hurley has an extensive work experience in various organizations. Mel joined the North Carolina Community Health Center Association in August 2016 as the Community Development & Special Populations Coordinator and held this position until November 2018. Mel then became the General Counsel & Policy Strategist until August 2019. From August 2019 to November 2020, they served as the Interim Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel. Subsequently, they became the Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel until March 2023. Lastly, they held the positions of Grants/Contracts Officer & General Counsel and VP of Risk Management & General Counsel from July 2022 to October 2023 and July 2023 onwards, respectively.

Prior to joining the North Carolina Community Health Center Association, Mel worked at the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada from November 2008 to June 2014. Mel served as the Youth & Volunteer Services Director and later as the Program Director.

Mel also worked at the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth from June 2005. At this organization, they initially worked as a Grant Writer until March 2007 and subsequently served as the Administrative Services Manager until an unknown date in 2008.

Mel Goodwin-Hurley earned a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from North Carolina Central University in the years 2014-2018. Prior to that, Mel completed a Bachelor of Social Work degree, cum laude, along with a Certificate in Non-Profit Management, from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
