Matt Swain began their work experience in 2006 as an intern at the North American Sports Network. Matt then served as an intern at Millipore and BPCouncil in 2007. In 2008, they worked as a Research Analyst at KRC Research. From 2010 to 2014, Matt worked as a Policy Analyst at the Office of Economic Analysis, Evaluation, and Modeling. Matt then moved on to become a Senior Analyst from 2015 to 2015. From 2016 to 2017, they held the role of Senior Advisor, and currently, they are working as the Chief Of Staff at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

Matt Swain obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Policy and Systems from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they earned a Graduate Certificate in Survey Design and Data Analysis from The George Washington University between 2009 and 2010. Matt completed their undergraduate degree, a B.B.A. in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing, from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst from 2003 to 2007.
