Todd May MD FAAFP has over 30 years of diverse work experience in the medical field. Todd has served in various leadership roles at Health Net, including Vice President Medical Director and Senior Medical Director, where they were responsible for medical quality, performance, and clinical consultation across all lines of business. Todd was also a Family Medicine Physician at Coastside Clinic, providing direct patient care. Earlier in their career, Dr. May was a Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, where they provided patient care, supervised medical students and residents, and gave academic presentations. Todd also served as the Chief Medical Officer and Chief of the Medical Staff at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, leading clinical operations and representing the views of the medical staff. Dr. May has extensive experience in family medicine, hospital medicine, obstetrics, and procedural care.
Dr. Todd May has an extensive education history. Todd earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983. Todd then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the University of California, San Francisco from 1984 to 1988.
After completing their medical degree, Dr. May completed a Residency in Family Medicine at Natividad Medical Center, which is affiliated with UCSF, from 1988 to 1991. In 1997, they furthered their education by completing a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. May also obtained additional certifications throughout their career. In 2015, they became a Certified Lean Leader through the Rona Consulting Group and obtained Certification in A3 Thinking from the Lean Enterprise Institute. In 2017, they completed Racial Humility Training at Dr. Kenneth Hardy's institute at Drexel University.
Furthermore, Dr. May holds the title of Fellow at the American Academy of Family Physicians, a distinction they achieved in 1998.
