Zenia Cortes, MD, AME, IME, QME, currently serves as Medical Director at Medata, focusing on utilization management and quality improvement since November 2023. In addition, Zenia has been a Peer Reviewer at CLAIMS EVAL, INC. since July 2020 and an Orthopedist at Healthpointe Medical Group, Inc. since August 2008. Previous roles include being a Peer Review and Evidence-Based Medicine Expert at Mitchell International and Medical Director at UniMed Direct, where responsibilities included oversight of peer review panels, training, and adherence to Worker’s Compensation treatment guidelines. Zenia also has experience as a Utilization Peer Reviewer at STARMDs and as a volunteer surgeon with Operation Arthroscopy, alongside a background as an Orthopedic Surgeon at Kaiser Permanente. Zenia earned an MD from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and holds a BS in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, Riverside, with additional education from the University of Rochester and UCLA.
