Thomas Karelis has a diverse work experience in the healthcare field. Thomas started their career in 2001 as a Physician at Hazard Clinic, where they worked until 2005. In 2008, they joined Kentucky Pain Management Services as a Physician, offering comprehensive treatment plans for chronic pain patients. Thomas also worked as a Physician at Primary Care Centers of Eastern Kentucky from September 2008 to January 2009. In 2011, Thomas became a Leading Medical Expert at HealthTap. Thomas Karelis graduated from Sayre School in 1987. Thomas then attended the University of Kentucky from 1987 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology and Chemistry. After completing their undergraduate studies, they enrolled in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine from 1994 to 1998, where they obtained their medical degree (MD). In 2005, Thomas Karelis acquired the certification of Medical Review Officer for Drug Testing from the American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO).
