Bethany Luis, MPH, CHES has a diverse work experience in the field of public health. Bethany is currently the Director of School District Health Initiatives at Healthy Futures of Texas since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at The Children's Shelter - Family Tapestry Division as the Director of Community Engagement from December 2018 to July 2021. In this role, they collaborated with the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) to implement agency strategic goals, recruitment campaigns, and community awareness initiatives. Bethany also developed and implemented foster care and kinship recruitment plans, identified service gaps, and worked with key stakeholders to develop solutions. Bethany's early work experience in the public health sector started at Texas Christian University as a Research Assistant from September 2012 to October 2014. Bethany worked on a randomized-control study that measured adherence to antiretroviral medications in HIV-positive incarcerated individuals. Bethany gained experience working in state jails and prisons across Texas, primarily in Harris County.
Bethany Luis, MPH, CHES has a strong educational background in health promotion and behavioral science. Bethany obtained their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology, General at Baylor University from 2008 to 2010.
