Jamie Hyams has extensive experience in leadership and community development within the Jewish organizational sector. Currently serving as the Director of Development at Hebrew Free Loan of San Francisco since January 2016, Jamie's previous roles include Rabbi at Congregation P'nai Tikvah and Associate Director at Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. Jamie has also held positions as Executive Director at Contra Costa JCC and Administrative Director at Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center. Additional experience includes Community Development Director at Jewish Federation of the East Bay and Assistant Director at Hillel Foundation at Stanford University. Jamie holds an MA in Rabbinics from the Academy for Jewish Religion-California, a BFA in Textile History from California College of the Arts, and a BA in History from Lewis & Clark College.

Hebrew Free Loan

We’re a nonprofit that provides interest-free loans to help Jewish individuals in Northern California overcome financial challenges and pursue life dreams. In addition, we offer loans to non-Jewish residents in Northern California who meet one of the following criteria: • Student from a lower income home who is referred by a partner agency: hflasf.org/pollak • Employee of a Jewish organization • Business partner or immediate family member of a Jewish individual As loans are repaid, funds are recycled to make new loans. We’ve proven the success of this model with a repayment rate over 99%.
