POSITION: Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Heelstone is seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for managing the transition of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects all over the U.S. from the development phase to the construction and operational phases. This is a full-time position located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate key phases of construction for solar and battery storage projects, including but not limited to, construction permitting, punch-list management, and utility interconnection.

  • Prepare materials and participate in internal and external meetings associated with construction and operations.

  • Coordinate with Construction Manager(s) for construction and status tracking.

  • Engage and manage external consultants and independent engineers as needed for permitting and other construction activities.

  • Oversees contract management of EPC’s as the authorized owner’s representative by identifying potential risks and challenges associated with project execution. In addition, ensure all required deliverables are received from the Contractor (file appropriately), complete invoice package review and verification, track major milestones (MC, SC, FC), and verify and manage change orders and notices (both sent and received).

  • Work with governmental agencies, community groups, and landowners to facilitate construction efforts.

  • Support internal finance and construction teams to facilitate successful project construction and deliverables required for financial closings.

  • Travel to active construction sites to provide owner/operator presence and oversight as well as maintain relationships with the EPC and Contractors.

  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-saving strategies to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.

SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Highly proficient in MS Office, including, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and attention to detail
  • Self-starter that operates well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects, prioritize efforts and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organization and management skills

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • 2-4 years of project development and/or construction management.

  • Real estate and environmental diligence experience preferred.

  • Track record of managing consultants.

  • Familiar with project development software (CAD, GIS, Microsoft Project).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is expected to have up to 40% travel, dependent upon business needs.
