Program Officer, Creative Learning at Heinz Endowments

Mac Howison is the program officer for creative learning at The Heinz Endowments, where his work focuses primarily on grantee initiatives that intersect with the Endowments’ Creativity and Learning strategic areas. Prior to joining the Endowments, Mac was the senior program officer for catalytic funding at The Sprout Fund, where he worked with regional and national philanthropic partners to build strong networks and make nearly $7 million in community-decided investments in more than 1,000 early stage projects, organizations, innovators and activities.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mac is president of the board of directors of Bike Pittsburgh, where he works to make city communities safe and welcoming through biking and walking improvements. A musician, painter, and outdoor enthusiast, he has a BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University and is married to Jennifer, an artist and teacher.
