Janice Lao

Janice Lao, PhD cand., has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Janice is currently the Vice President of Global ESG at Helen of Troy, where they previously held positions as Senior Director and ESG Director. Prior to their current role, Janice worked as a Senior Associate/Head Tutor/Adjunct Faculty at Others. Janice also served as the Director of Group Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, and as the Senior Manager of Sustainability at MTR Corporation Limited. Janice has also held positions at Swire Pacific, Cathay Pacific Airways, Carbon Capital Markets, ERM: Environmental Resources Management, World Resources Institute, and AECOM. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in environmental and sustainability management, carbon reduction projects, and policy analysis.

Janice Lao, PhD cand. has a diverse education history. Janice obtained a BSc in Environmental Science and Economics from Ateneo de Manila University in 2003. In 2005, they pursued an MSc in Environmental Change and Management at the University of Oxford. Additionally, they earned a Diploma in the Basics of Business from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in the same year. Janice further enhanced their expertise by obtaining an Executive Education in Sustainability Leadership from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2018. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sustainability Education at Prescott College, expected to be completed by 2024. Furthermore, they obtained a Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council in 2017.
