Kelly Schiabor Barrett

Kelly Schiabor Barrett is a Senior Staff Scientist at Helix since April 2020, where responsibilities include conducting research on population genomics and managing data logistics for COVID-19 testing. Previously, as an Assistant Professor at Geisinger from February 2018 to March 2020, Kelly worked on implementing genomic screening for heritable diseases, utilizing data from the MyCode Community Health Initiative and DiscovEHR collaboration. Prior experience includes quality analysis and product innovation research at Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, a postdoctoral fellowship at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and doctoral research at UC Berkeley focusing on molecular interactions. Academic credentials include a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Economics from Duke University, along with a certificate in Genome Science.
