James Clarkson

Research Engineer at Neo4j

James Clarkson is a research engineer at Neo4j. Prior to that, they were a principal R&D engineer at Amiosec Ltd from September 2019 to June 2021. Before that, they were a senior robotics software engineer at Dyson from September 2017 to September 2019.

Previously, James interned at NVIDIA from January 2016 to May 2016. James also worked as a research engineer at ARM from March 2012 to September 2013, where they investigated the potential of compute accelerators for inclusion in the next-generation of ARM based supercomputers.

Before that, James completed their PhD at the University of Manchester from September 2013 to September 2017, where they created Tornado: a Java-based framework for programming hardware accelerators.

Prior to their PhD, James worked as a technologist for the UK government from September 2006 to February 2012. James also worked as a UNIX system engineer at Lancashire County Council from July 2005 to September 2006.

James Clarkson completed their PhD in Computer Science at The University of Manchester. James also holds an MSc in Advanced Computer Science from The University of Manchester, and a BSc (Hons) in Computing Science from the same institution.

They are on a team with Marco Pavia - Consulting Engineer, Fredrik Clementson - Director of Engineering, and Guangxue Cao - Software Engineer. James Clarkson reports to Magnus Vejlstrup, VP, Engineering.
