Xanthos Vrachas

Board Director at Hellas Direct

Xanthos Vrachas has held various roles throughout their work experience. Xanthos started their career as a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard of Cyprus from 1997 to 1999. Xanthos then joined Deloitte as a Senior Auditor from 2003 to 2006. Following that, they worked at Merrill Lynch as an Investment Banking Associate from 2007 to 2009. Xanthos then joined Universal Life as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2009 to 2017. In 2013, they became a Board Director at Bank of Cyprus, where they played a crucial role in resolving the urgent crisis after a depositor bail-in was enforced. In 2017, they became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at PQH, a position they still hold. Most recently, in 2021, they became a Board Director at Hellas Direct.

Xanthos Vrachas completed their Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School, starting in 2006 and finishing in 2008. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University, where they majored in Finance and Accounting and studied from 1999 to 2003. In addition to their academic qualifications, Xanthos Vrachas has also obtained various certifications. These certifications include being a PRA Approved Person for Non-Executive Director Function from the Bank of England, achieved in 2014. Xanthos also became an FSA Approved Person to Deal and Advise in Securities & Financial Derivatives from the Financial Services Authority in 2008. Furthermore, they hold the certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) obtained from the VBOA - Virginia Board of Accountancy in 2005. Overall, Xanthos Vrachas has completed both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree, as well as acquiring several professional certifications throughout their education and career.
