Michael Spence

Michael Spence is an accomplished attorney with over 31 years of expertise in real estate and land use law. Currently a partner and co-chair of the Real Estate and Land Use Practice Group at Helsell Fetterman LLP since November 2012, Michael has handled a wide range of legal matters from boundary disputes to high-value commercial transactions. Previously, Michael served as a licensed real estate instructor for various organizations from 1994 to 2015, teaching comprehensive courses on real estate and land use law across Washington State. As a member of the Bainbridge Island School Board from 2009 to 2012, including a term as President, Michael contributed to one of Washington's top public school districts. Michael also co-founded Harrison, Benis & Spence, LLP, and served in key roles for USAID and a real estate academic exchange with China. Michael holds a JD from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a BS in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
