Karakus

Cem Karakus is a Doctoral Researcher at the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE) since January 2022, focusing on lipid-protein interactions in nervous system diseases, particularly temporal lobe epilepsy and chloride homeostasis. Previously, Cem served as a Technical Assistant at the University of Helsinki, contributing to laboratory experiments within the HiLife Neuroscience Center. Prior experience includes roles as a Design Engineer at Institut Carnot STAR, working on data processing and animal experimentation, and internships at various research institutes, including CRMBM and Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone, where Cem engaged in projects related to myelin imaging and brain pathology models. Cem holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Helsinki, a Master’s degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrated Neurosciences from Aix-Marseille University, and has accumulated extensive training in experimental procedures and neuroscience research methodologies.
