Reading Teacher at Henderson Collegiate

Abigail Simko is an experienced educator currently serving as the 5th Grade Grade Level Chair and Social Studies Teacher, as well as a Reading Teacher at Henderson Collegiate since July 2019. Abigail is also part of Teach For America, assigned to Henderson, North Carolina, where teaching responsibilities include Fifth Grade Social Studies and Reading. Prior to this, Abigail held the role of Event Planning Specialist at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University from August 2016 to July 2019, and gained experience as an Events Marketing Intern at Dun & Bradstreet in 2017. Abigail participated in the Residential Leadership Community at Virginia Tech, mentoring freshman students in their transition to college. In 2016, Abigail worked as a Receptionist/Server at Upper Montclair Country Club, providing services for various events. Abigail holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Virginia Tech.

Open to all students in North Carolina, Henderson Collegiate is committed to providing an exceptional education to students who are historically under-served in our community. Henderson Collegiate opened in the summer of 2010 with a 4th grade class of 100 students.
