The Huntington
Raquel Folgado is a Cryopreservation Research Botanist at The Huntington, a position held since August 2014, focusing on developing protocols for preserving plant germplasm in liquid nitrogen and freezers. Previously, Raquel served as a Cryopreservation Research Fellow, working on the cryopreservation of various plant species within botanical gardens. Raquel's earlier experience includes a role as a Researcher Trainee at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology from November 2009 to October 2013, specializing in plant cryopreservation, primary metabolism, proteomics, and stress plant physiology. Raquel holds a Ph.D. in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven, a Master’s degree in Plant Sciences from Universidad de Oviedo, and a Licenciatura en Biologia from the same institution.
