Alan Newby has extensive experience in the aerospace sector, currently serving as the Director of Research and Technology at Rolls-Royce since March 2004, where previous roles included Director of Aerospace Technology and Future Programmes, Chief Engineer for Future Programmes and Technology, and Engineering Director. In addition to these responsibilities, Alan Newby has held board member positions at the Henry Royce Institute since September 2020 and the Aerospace Technology Institute since September 2016. Alan Newby holds a Master of Science degree in Gas Turbine Engineering with Management from Cranfield University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University. Further education includes attendance at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford from January 2016 to January 2018.
