Bill Welt is an experienced sports writer with a diverse background in journalism. Currently serving as a sports writer for The State Journal-Register and the Herald & Review since 2017 and 2016 respectively, Bill has also held roles at the Lincoln Courier as a reporter and sports editor. Prior experience includes internships and writing positions at the Western Illinois Museum and Western Illinois Magazine. Bill's journalistic journey began at the Western Courier, where roles included sports editor and managing editor, overseeing newspaper production and contributing feature stories. Bill holds a Master's degree in History and a Bachelor's degree in History from Western Illinois University.
