Uchi Jayawardhena

Uchi Jayawardhena has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Currently, they are serving as the Head of Claims Quant Analytics at Herbert Smith Freehills since December 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Quant Analytics professional in the same company from April 2021 to December 2022.

Before joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Uchi worked at PaySense as an Advisor to the Leadership Team from September 2018 to April 2021.

From March 2017 to August 2018, Uchi worked as a Consultant at Infinity Transformation Solutions (ITS). In this role, they provided solutions related to strategy formulation, operational excellence, and commercial negotiations for tech startups, SMEs, and MNCs.

Uchi's earlier experience includes roles at Shell Trading, where they occupied various positions. From May 2016 to February 2017, they served as the Global Trade Controls Manager - Trading & Supply, ensuring compliance with import/export legislation and sanctions. From June 2015 to April 2016, they were the Strategy Planning & Reporting - Special Projects Manager, responsible for reorganizing the financial reporting process. Prior to this, Uchi was the Shell Trading Governance Manager from July 2013 to June 2015, leading new business initiatives and collaborating with traders, legal, compliance, tax, and back-office functions. Additionally, they held the role of Governance, Risk, and Assurance Lead - World Outside North America from October 2009 to June 2013.

Uchi's career began at ICBS Group, where they worked as a Manager from January 2001 to November 2002. They later joined Asda as an Assistant from December 2002 to July 2003.

Uchi Jayawardhena holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Sri Lanka Law College, which was obtained from 1998 to 2001. In 2003, Uchi obtained a certification as an ACMA from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Uchi also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
