Rune Skovgaard Rasmussen

Rune Skovgaard Rasmussen is an Associate Professor of General Pathology at the University of Copenhagen, with a focus on cell death mechanisms, atherosclerosis, acute inflammation, and cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, Rune serves as Chief Scientist at the Panum Institute's Copenhagen Experimental Stroke Unit, where innovative stroke treatments are developed and tested. As a Neuropsychologist for Slagelse Municipality, thorough assessments of brain-damaged individuals are conducted to guide rehabilitation strategies. Rune's role as Chief Scientist at Herlev Hospital involves designing and monitoring clinical trials. With extensive experience in stroke research at Rigshospitalet and previous positions at Gentofte Hospital, Rune has contributed significantly to the understanding and treatment of stroke-related conditions. Education includes a Ph.D. in Brain Research from the University of Copenhagen, alongside a Master’s degree in Psychology.
