Michael Sleeper

Michael Sleeper has over 15 years of work experience in the hospitality industry. Michael currently holds the position of Area Director of Finance at Hersha Hospitality Management since February 2023. Prior to this, they worked at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village as Director of Finance from December 2021 to February 2023. In this role, they were responsible for executive management of a $30 million resort with 308 rooms, 25k sqft meeting space, and 3 F&B outlets. Michael also provided team leadership and development for 33 resort managers and the accounting department. Additionally, they collaborated with revenue management to increase ADR by 27% in 2022.

Before their role at The Westin Cape Coral Resort, Michael worked as Sr Assistant Director of Finance at the same property from August 2020 to December 2021. Here, they managed daily financials for a $23 million resort and partnered with senior leaders to prepare the yearly operational budget plan. Michael also conducted monthly forecasting by analyzing data and market trends.

Prior to this, Michael worked as Sr Assistant Director of Finance at JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort from April 2019 to August 2020. In this role, they managed daily financials for a $200 million resort with 806 rooms, 140k sqft meeting space, and 12 F&B outlets. Michael partnered with the Director of Finance in assisting department leaders with monthly forecasting and prepared and reported monthly and quarterly financial results to senior leadership.

Michael also gained experience as Assistant Director of Finance at Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay from October 2017 to April 2019. During this time, they managed the daily financial operations of a $43 million operation consisting of 600 guestrooms and three F&B outlets. Michael conducted monthly critique meetings to review financial statements with senior leadership and provided financial trainings to department leaders.

Michael began their career at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach/Bal Harbour, where they worked as an Income Journalist from September 2015 to October 2017. In this role, they introduced and developed new hires to the company's culture and standard operating procedures. Michael also implemented department training activities and trained new hires and transfers in various financial procedures.

Michael's earlier experience includes working as a General Accountant at Marriott International from April 2010 to September 2015. Michael conducted billing for wholesalers and managed the billing relationship between corporate collection services and customers. Michael also provided excellent customer service to transient billing inquiries.

Before joining Marriott International, Michael worked at the company as a Front Desk employee from February 2008 to April 2009.

Michael Sleeper attended DeVry University from 2010 to 2014 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
