Russell Porter has extensive work experience in the hospitality industry. In 2000, they started their career as a Sales Manager at the Hudson Hotel. Russell then moved on to Hilton New York in 2001, where they continued their role as a Sales Manager until 2003 when they became a Sales Manager at Four Seasons Resort Nevis. In 2006, they joined Hilton New York again as an Assistant Director of Sales until 2008. From 2008 to 2009, they served as the Director of National Accounts/NSO at Gaylord Hotels. Russell then joined Site Search & Select as a Director of Accounts from 2010 to 2011, and Highgate Hotels as a Corporate Sales Director from 2011 to 2012. In 2012, they became the Director of Sales and Marketing at Element Times Square until 2014 when they took on the role of Director of Sales and Marketing at Hilton Garden Central Park South. Most recently, in 2017, they became the Regional Director of Sales - NYC at Hersha Hospitality.

Russell Porter began their education in 1993 at Saint Augustine's College, where they studied Economics. Russell attended the college until 1995, but did not obtain a degree during this time. Following this, they enrolled at Central Connecticut State University in 1995 and successfully completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in 1998.
