Lauren Thompson

Lauren Thompson is an experienced Learning Specialist currently working at The Hewitt School since September 2023, with a background in developing engaging, culturally responsive curricula and incorporating experiential learning. Previously, Lauren served as a Learning Specialist for the NYC Department of Education from August 2015 to September 2023 and contributed as a Reading Teacher at DREAM for a summer program in 2017. Participation in the NYC Teaching Fellows program from July 2015 to June 2017 provided rigorous training in content development and pedagogy. Additional experience includes a year of service with AmeriCorps, training roles at The Leadership Program, and an internship at Ladies Who Launch. Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Education in Special Education with an English Extension from St. John's University.
