Karen Wong

Karen Wong, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of computational biology. In 2021, they began working as a Computational Biologist at Hexagon Bio. Prior to this, they were a Clinical Bioinformatics Scientist at Color from 2020-2021. In this role, they built and deployed machine learning models to reduce false positive structural variant calls by >50%, and developed and optimized a structural variant genotyper. Before this, they were a Graduate Student at the University of California, San Francisco from 2016-2020.

Karen Wong holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Genome Sciences/Genomics from the University of California, San Francisco, which they obtained in 2020. Karen previously obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2016.
