Kristen Pizarro has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Kristen currently serves as the Head of Strategy + DEI at hi5.agency since January 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Strategy Director at the same company from January 2020 to January 2021.
Kristen also has experience as a Freelance Strategy Lead, where they worked independently for various clients. Kristen was self-employed from 2016 to 2020, during which they served as a Freelance Strategy Lead at Self Employed. Kristen also worked as a Freelance Strategy Lead at Imprint Projects from January 2019 to August 2019, where they developed the global strategy for a Google x Levi's collaboration and provided consultation services to clients such as Everlane and Sonos.
In addition, Kristen worked as a Senior Account Strategist at Stradella Road from October 2016 to January 2019. In this role, they were responsible for strategy development, creative concepting, live event coverage, and influencer strategy for clients such as Amazon Studios, Disney/Pixar, Netflix, and Real Mex Restaurants.
Kristen also worked as a Freelance Senior Strategist at Mistress from November 2015 to June 2016. Here, they led multiple accounts, including Chambord Liqueur and Finlandia Vodka, and utilized tools such as Crimson Hexagon and native analytics to create social media reports and execute paid social media plans.
Prior to their freelance roles, Kristen worked at M&C SAATCHI LA from November 2013 to November 2015. Kristen served as a Senior Social Media Strategist, developing research-based social media strategies for brands in healthcare, fashion and lifestyle, and technology. Kristen also acted as an account lead and utilized social listening tools such as Brandwatch and Crimson Hexagon.
Earlier in their career, Kristen worked at AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) as a Communications Manager from April 2013 to July 2013. Kristen created strategic marketing/communications plans for APLA and significantly increased engagement on their social media platforms. Kristen also worked as a Communications Specialist at APLA from October 2010 to June 2013, where they managed and created content for social media channels, developed marketing plans, and created marketing materials.
Before transitioning into the strategy field, Kristen gained experience in management as a Store Manager at American Apparel from June 2007 to June 2008. In this role, they were responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a team of over 20 employees and played a key role in achieving sales goals.
Kristen Pizarro attended UC Santa Barbara from 2005 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology.
