Erik Gabriel

Erik Gabriel, MPA, CGFM, CPA, currently serves as the Vice President of Finance & Controller at HIAS, starting in September 2024. Previously, Erik held the position of Chief Financial Officer at the Appalachian Regional Commission from September 2022 to September 2024 and Budget Director at the United States Institute of Peace from August 2015 to September 2022. In the role of Budget Director, Erik was responsible for budgetary leadership, financial planning, and oversight of budget execution across various departments. Earlier experiences include serving as Management & Budget Analyst for Arlington County and Administrative Officer for the International Committee of the Red Cross. Erik holds multiple degrees from George Mason University, including a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Public and Nonprofit Finance, as well as an accounting certificate from Northern Virginia Community College.
