Sharon Samber

Sharon Samber is the Sr. Communications Officer at HIAS. Sharon has over 20 years of experience as a writer and editor, having worked with a variety of organizations on a range of projects.

Sharon co-founded Open Book Personal Theirtories in November 2013. The company helped people tell their life stories, and Sharon was responsible for interviewing, editing, researching, and publishing the books. Sharon has worked on a variety of different kinds of stories, from baby's first year to a grandfather's wartime experience to full biographies.

From June 2009 to November 2013, Sharon worked as a writer and editor for The Center for Political Accountability. There, they wrote and edited reports and projects about political spending. Sharon was also a contributor and editor for a handbook on corporate political activity.

From January 2007 to July 2009, Sharon worked as a writer and editor for The International Spy Museum, Teaching Strategies, and Rabinowitz/Dorf Communications. And from January 2004 to December 2006, they worked as a reporter for the U.S. Department of Justice.

Sharon started their career as a reporter for JTA in January 1999, where they worked until November 2002.

Sharon Samber completed a BA in American Studies at Barnard College.
