Michelle Nijhuis

Michelle Nijhuis is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in environmental reporting and editing. Since May 2002, Michelle has served as a Contributing Editor for High Country News and has also been self-employed as a Freelance Journalist since January 2002. Michelle held the position of Project Editor at The Atlantic from September 2017 to August 2023 and previously worked as a Senior/Associate Editor at High Country News from 1998 to 2002. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Reed College between 1991 and 1995.
