Head Of High Performance Investment at High Performance Sport New Zealand

Chris McCarthy has extensive experience in the sports and finance industries. Chris is currently the Head of High Performance Investment at High Performance Sport New Zealand, where they manage the HP Investment Team and is responsible for strategic investment advisory and the organization's investment maturity.

Prior to that, Chris worked at Sport New Zealand as the Sector Investment Manager and Senior Analyst. In these roles, they managed the Sector Investment Team and was responsible for strategic investment advisory and the organization's long-term Investment Maturity Journey.

Chris also has experience with World Rugby, where they served as a Programme Consultant and Programme Manager. In these positions, they led program planning and budgeting, managed global operations, and aided in strategy development for the High Performance Investment Programme.

Chris McCarthy began their education in 1997 at the University of Canterbury, where they pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree until 1999. After that, in 2002, they enrolled at The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, where they obtained an Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) & Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) degree, which they completed in 2006. Most recently, in 2021, Chris attended Unitec | Te Pūkenga, focusing on Te Reo Māori.
