Markus Buchgraber

Markus Buchgraber has a diverse work experience in the petroleum industry. Markus is currently serving as the VP of Reservoir Engineering at High River Resources since 2020. Prior to this, Markus was the Vice President of Engineering at Burnett Petroleum Company from 2019 to 2020. Markus also worked as a Senior Engineer at Springbok Energy from 2017 to 2019.

Markus has a strong academic background as well. Markus was a Guest Lecturer at Stanford University from 2014 to 2019, where they shared their industry expertise with students. Markus has also contributed to the Stanford University Petroleum Investment Committee as an Advisory Board Member since 2016.

Before their various roles in the industry, Markus obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and served as a Research Assistant in Stanford University's SUPRI-A - Enhanced Oil Recovery Research Team. Markus also worked as a Reservoir Simulation Intern at Oxy in 2012 and as a Reservoir Engineer at OMV in 2009. Markus started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Leoben in 2008.

Markus Buchgraber obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Montanuniversität Leoben in 2007. Markus then pursued a Master of Science degree in Reservoir Engineering from the same institution, which they completed in 2008. During their time at Montanuniversität Leoben, Markus also had the opportunity to be a Visiting Scholar at the Colorado School of Mines in 2007. Following this, they became a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University in 2008, where they focused on Petroleum Engineering. Markus continued their education at Stanford University and received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Energy Resource Engineering in 2013. In 2011, they also obtained a Certificate in the Summer Institute for Entrepreneurship from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
