Merrill Davis has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of communications and public affairs. Starting in 1992, they worked as an Energy Policy Consultant for the Governor's Energy Office. Merrill then served as a Public Outreach Specialist for the Texas Ratepayers' Organization to Save Energy in 1993. From 1993 to 2007, they held various roles at Public Strategies, Inc., including Associate, Senior Associate, Principal, Director, and Managing Director.
In 2007, Merrill joined Tenet Healthcare Corporation as the Vice President of Communications, where they led the outsourcing team and was responsible for media relations, crisis communications, and internal communications for a large healthcare client. Merrill also supervised hospital communications at Tenet's 50 hospitals.
Merrill then worked at Hill+Knowlton Strategies from 2009 to 2019. Merrill served as a Senior Vice President in the Houston and Dallas offices, and later became the EVP & General Manager of the Austin office. Their responsibilities included handling major clients, business development, leading teams, managing budgets, and providing strategic communications for heavily regulated energy and healthcare fields.
In 2019, Merrill worked as a Strategic Communications Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin – Center for Professional Education (CPE). Merrill also held the position of Senior Vice President at Mercury and Vice President of Communications at Texas 2036.

Merrill Davis pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Policy Studies from Rice University from 1986 to 1991. Later, from 1991 to 1993, they completed coursework towards a Master of Public Affairs at The LBJ School of Public Affairs.
