Dr. Jennifer Junnila Walker MD, MPH has a long and varied work experience. In 1996, they began their career as a Medical Corps Officer in the US Army. In 2011, they were the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Commander at the US Army Health Clinic Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. From 2013-2015, they were the Chief of Clinical Operations at HQ US Pacific Command, where they advised and assisted the HQ USPACOM Command Surgeon, coordinated joint and combined health service support, and developed theater-wide medical policies. From 2015-2016, they were the Director of Graduate Medical Education at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg NC. Jennifer Junnila then returned to Hawaii in 2016 as the Medical Director and Family Medicine Residency Director (interim) at Hilo Medical Center. In 2022, they began their current role as Medical Director at Hilo Medical Center/East Hawaii Region, HHSC.
Jennifer Junnila Walker MD, MPH received their Bachelor of Science (BS) from Seattle University in 1989, followed by their Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1993. Jennifer Junnila furthered their education by earning their Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Washington in 2005.
