Winston Chan

Winston Chan has a diverse work experience in the field of data analysis and biostatistics. Winston worked as a Senior Claims Analyst at Hippo Insurance starting in 2022. Prior to that, Winston worked at Sendero Health Plans as a Senior Data Analyst from 2019 onwards. Their responsibilities included analyzing claims data using SAS and SQL to improve risk adjustment and optimization, as well as supporting data-driven quality improvement measures. Winston also analyzed financial data to assist in business decisions.

Before that, Winston was a Biostatistician I at UTMB from 2015 to 2018. In this role, they were the primary consultant for the Office of Biostatistics, using SAS and SQL to extract, process, and analyze Epic-Clarity data for health system improvement and decision support. Winston also worked as a Research Coordinator at Baylor College of Medicine for a short period in 2015, where they helped design research projects, conducted statistical analysis, and assisted in manuscript writing.

Further back in their career, Winston was a Cancer Prevention Researching Training Program Trainee at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2014. In this position, they assisted a faculty mentor in assessing risk factors for developing secondary cancer after successful treatment of head and neck cancer. Winston presented their findings through oral presentations and written reports.

Winston also has teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) from 2013 to 2014. Winston assisted in teaching foundations and Intermediate Biostatistics classes, grading assignments and providing feedback to students. Additionally, they worked as a Private Tutor in Biostatistics during the same time period, where they tutored a student and helped them achieve an "A" grade.
