Ted Gutierrez

Ted Gutierrez has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Ted is currently the VP Sales Engineering & Service Delivery at HiQuest Group of IT Companies since May 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the President of Gutierrez Consulting, LLC since November 2015. Ted also has experience at SANS Institute, where they served as the ICS Curriculum Director from January 2017 to May 2020, and as the Utility & NERC CIP Product Manager, contributing to the expansion and improvement of NERC CIP focused products and the overall ICS curriculum. Before joining SANS Institute, Ted worked at NIPSCO as the Director of Operations Technology & NERC Compliance from December 2012 to January 2015, as well as in various other roles within the Operations Technology Systems and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Compliance Engineering departments. Earlier in their career, Ted gained extensive experience at EDS, where they served as a System Engineer, Infrastructure & InfoSec Program/Project Manager, leading large-scale IT infrastructure and Cybersecurity projects for multiple fortune 500 companies. Ted also held the positions of Program Manager / Operations Manager at EDS AT&T - State of TN account, overseeing the implementation of the eHealth private network for the state of Tennessee. Ted started their career as a Systems Engineer at LTV Steel, specializing in the installation, support, and maintenance of measurement and control systems in the steel manufacturing process.

Ted Gutierrez holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business, which they earned from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University Northwest, attending from 1986 to 1989. In addition to their formal education, Ted has obtained several certifications, including the Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in 2008, the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2011, the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from GIAC Certifications in 2010, the Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) from GIAC Certifications in 2015, the GIAC Advisory Board certification from GIAC Certifications in 2019, and the GIAC Critical Infrastructure Protection (GCIP) certification also from GIAC Certifications in 2019. Ted has also completed the ITIL Foundation (v2) certification from APM Group and the ITIL Foundation (v3 - 2011 Edition) certification from APM Group Limited (APMG) via PeopleCert, although the specific dates of completion for these certifications are not provided.
