Alan Knight (CEng)

Alan Knight (CEng) has extensive experience in hardware engineering, specifically in the aerospace and augmented reality (AR) industries. Their most recent position was as a Chartered Engineer at hiSky Ltd., where they worked on the development of a dynamic satellite ground terminal for mobile and IoT data. Alan led the design, development, and project management of the full design cycle, including researching new technology, communicating with vendors and suppliers, and building a proof of concept prototype board.

Prior to hiSky Ltd., Alan worked as a Principal Hardware Engineer at DAQRI, focusing on designing enterprise-class AR wearables. Alan was involved in the full design cycle and worked on researching new technology, communicating with vendors and suppliers, and building proof of concept prototypes.

Alan also spent a significant portion of their career at BAE Systems, where they started as an Apprentice and progressed to become a Principal Hardware Engineer. During their time at BAE Systems, they worked on various aerospace products and had a range of responsibilities, including bid tender support, requirements capture, defining hardware architecture, electronic design, schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation, testing and integration, and production support.

Alan attended MidKent College from 1992 to 1997, where they received a Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) degree in HNC & HND Electronic Engineering. Following this, they pursued their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Greenwich from 2006 to 2010.

In terms of certifications, Alan obtained the Chartered Engineer (CEng) designation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in August 2012. Furthermore, they acquired the certification in Learning Altium from LinkedIn in September 2019.
