Shane Gould

Shane Gould is the Head of Industrial Heritage Strategy at Historic England, a position held since July 2018, with a career at the organization that began in 2003. Shane has held multiple roles, including Regional Policy Officer, Urban Regeneration Policy Officer, Ancient Monuments Inspector, Rural Policy Officer, and Senior National Infrastructure Adviser. Prior to joining Historic England, Shane served as Borough Archaeologist for Sandwell Council and worked as Senior Archaeological Development Control Officer for Essex County Council. Shane's early career includes a role as Assistant Director at Cranstone Consultancy. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Historic Conservation from Oxford Brookes University, a Master of Social Science in Industrial Archaeology from the University of Birmingham, and a BA in Archaeology from the University of York.
