Yohana Mapala has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of strategic information, monitoring and evaluation, and data management. Yohana has held various roles throughout their career, starting from 2004 to the present.

In their most recent position as the Director of Strategic Information and Continued Quality Improvement at HJF Medical Research International, they have been responsible for overseeing and improving the quality of data within the organization.

Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Strategic Information and Innovations at ME&A, Inc.; USAID Data for Development, where they were involved in conducting data quality assessments and performance evaluations. Yohana also redesigned tools and protocols to improve data quality and reduce costs.

Yohana also worked as a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and GIS Advisor at MEASURE Evaluation, where they organized and conducted data quality assessments and provided regular reporting of findings to ensure compliance with USAID rules and regulations.

In their earlier career, they worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Officer at FHI 360, where they oversaw the design and implementation of the program's monitoring and evaluation system.

Yohana started their career as a Data Manager at the Tanzania-Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, where they played a crucial role in managing HIV/AIDS data and clearing backlogs.

Yohana also worked as a Data Manager at MDH - Muhimbili-Dar City - Harvard School of Public Health, where they developed data management plans, generated data queries, and designed forms for data processing.

Yohana Mapala's education history begins in 1991, when they attended Ifunda Technical Secondary School and obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education with a specialization in Electrical Engineering Technologies/Technicians in 1994. Following this, Yohana went on to Mzumbe Secondary School from 1995 to 1997, where they obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education with a focus on PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).

Moving forward, Yohana enrolled in the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in 1998 and completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science between 1998 and 2001. They continued their studies at UDSM and pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science from 2003 to 2005.

In 2011, Yohana attended the Tanzania Institute of Project Management and earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management from 2011 to 2013.

Finally, Yohana studied at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, where they completed a Master of Public Health specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from 2014 to 2017.
