Jonathan Humphrey is currently a partner at HKA LIMITED. Prior to this, they worked as a Future Trends Economist with the Department for International Trade (DIT) from November 2020 to February 2022. In this role, they researched and analysed long-term trends and developments shaping economic growth and international trade in the coming decades, to help inform policymakers and strategists interested in different regions of the world.

From February 2014 to August 2016, Jonathan Humphrey worked as an Economist with CRU. In this role, they developed and managed econometric models for price forecasting of non-ferrous metals and fertilisers by utilising R, Excel, VBA, and SQL. Jonathan also forecasted major Asian currencies and macroeconomic variables of interest to commodity markets and performed risk scenario analysis. Furthermore, they created articles and news stories for clients and company publications about economic developments in major economies in the Americas and Asia. Jonathan also presented to internal colleagues and at international conferences regarding economic developments of interest to different industries.

During their time at CRU, Jonathan Humphrey made key accomplishments such as successfully building new three forecast models for metals price forecasts and two for fertilisers. Jonathan also expertly developed articles exploring the macroeconomic drivers of commodity markets. Additionally, they developed user-friendly models for measuring the cost of capital applicable to different mining projects.

Jonathan Humphrey completed a BA in Business Finance at Durham University. Jonathan then went on to complete an MSc in International Money, Finance and Investment at Durham University. After that, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Economics at Korea University. Finally, they completed a Korean Language Diploma at Paichai University.
