Fred L. Smoot

Fred L. Smoot is a semi-retired pastoral counselor, marriage and family therapist, and educator, currently engaged with Pastoral Counseling Consulting Service since June 2019. Since December 2013, Fred has served as the Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education at Hoag Hospital, where responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising ministers for pastoral roles in various settings. Previously, Fred managed the Clinical Pastoral Education program at the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education from December 2013 to May 2019, overseeing curriculum management and student guidance. Fred directed Emory University Clergy Care from January 1999 to January 2012, also holding an adjunct faculty position at the Candler School of Theology. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Pastoral Counseling from Claremont School of Theology and an M.Div. in Preaching Pastoral Care from St. Paul School of Theology Methodist.
