Chief Of Geophysics For Exploration at Hocol

Horacio Acevedo has extensive work experience in the field of geophysics for exploration. Horacio has worked as the Chief of Geophysics for Exploration at Hocol since 2019, where they provide geophysical advisory for exploration and leads geophysical activities from acquisition to seismic processing. Horacio also manages the geophysical team and resources for all geophysical activities. Prior to this role, Horacio was a Senior Geophysicist Advisor & Exploration Team Leader at Tecpetrol E&P from 2014 to 2019, where they conducted seismic inversion projects and led the exploration team in Colombia. Horacio also worked as a Senior Geophysicist for exploration at Talisman Energy from 2011 to 2014, conducting seismic interpretation, prospect definition, and block evaluation. Before that, Horacio was a Principal Project Geoscientist at Fugro-Jason (now CGG-Jason) from 2006 to 2011, where they focused on reservoir characterization and led projects for different basins in Mexico. Horacio started their career at ECOPETROL S.A. in 1994, where they held various roles including Senior Geophysical Advisor and Chief Geophysicist for Exploration.

Horacio Acevedo's education history includes earning a Bachelor's degree in Geology with a specialization in Stratigraphy from Universidad Industrial de Santander. Following this, they completed a Diploma in Management Development with a focus on Project Management from Universidad EAFIT. Lastly, Acevedo obtained a Master of Sciences in Geophysics with a specialization in PreStack Seismic Inversion from Michigan Technological University.
