Sarah M. Grimaldi

Sarah is an attorney in the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, where she focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Her areas of focus include materials chemistry, surface chemistry, polymer chemistry, biochemistry, hydrogels, drug delivery systems, and analytical methods.

Before joining Hodgson Russ, Sarah was a member of the intellectual property group at another prominent regional firm. Her responsibilities there included patent prosecution, patent portfolio management, and serving on mergers and acquisitions teams as a subject matter expert for intellectual property matters.

Sarah earned both a J.D. and an M.S. in Chemistry from the University at Buffalo. Her graduate laboratory research focused on cross-linked polymer networks, hydrogel manipulation and characterization, and macromolecular drug delivery systems.

While in law school, Sarah was a Constitutional Law Teaching Fellow, served as the president of the Buffalo Performing Arts Law Society and was a member of the Buffalo Law Review. She also traveled to Texas to work as a student attorney with U.B.’s U.S.-Mexico Border Clinic, assisting asylum-seekers on-site at a border detention facility.
